Christmas Jars: Absolutely Inspirational

Caution, contains book details:
I loved this book. This is exactly the kind of story people need to read. It's a story of hard work, compassion, and hope--no coincidence that that is the name of the main character. Hope is a truly remarkable character. She came from literally nothing. Abandoned by her mother at the beginning of her life and left to depend solely on the help of a stranger, she manages to grow up in a loving home and pursue a dream. There's no complaint of hard times or less-fortunate circumstances, she simply has a dream and will power. And in the end, rather than pity her losses, she gives to someone else, accepts forgiveness and seems to give it all in the same day. This is the true meaning of Christmas.
I was touched by the story of the Maxwell family who were so happy just having each other that they were willing to give up their Christmas to help a stranger. The procession of people carrying jars to the Maxwell home was more than I could take. Could you imagine the difference one family made with such a simple gesture. Let's hope that we all can find such happiness within our own families and remember Christmas for what it truly is, "a miracle, nothing less, performed by a child, and today made available to all."
My husband and I have decided that this Christmas we will start our own Christmas Jar and I encourage you all to do the same. Merry Christmas.

New Books for December

Ok, so it's been awhile since I posted on this blog. What can I say, I didn't really like 1984--the sexual content was a bit much. Anyway I'm going to get this thing up and going again. In the spirit of Christmas I'm going to read Christmas Jars by Jason Wright. I read the first half of it a year ago and never finished so I think I'll pull it out. For those who have read it, this is a good time to reread it or just get a reminder. Since it's a short book and I may have time, I will also be reading The Forgotten Carols again.
If you'd like to join me, I'll try to post my thoughts as soon as I finish each book. Join in whenever you finish. Happy reading and Merry Christmas.
